2014 Ball Pictures

CIKA is committed to providing funding for research into solid tumours

2014 Ball Pictures - Cancer in Kids @ RCH - CIKA

The 2014 ball was held at the Pullman Hotel Albert Park on 16 August. Here are some photographs taken during the evening by our official photographer,
Happy Medium to whom we are most grateful.

Before the guests arrive, the volunteer team has the opportunity for a preview of the ballroom and the silent auction ...

... but by 6.15 it is time to prepare for action
as the early arrivals make their way into
the foyer ...

... and start to inspect the goodies on offer.

There is just time for a photograph of the CIKA committee ...

... and a second with the team from the Murdoch Institute at the RCH which will be the beneficiary of the evening's fundraising.

CIKA president, Sandra Lehrer is seen here with our patron and master of ceremonies, Peter Mitchell, and Leor Samuel (centre) who conducted the Grand Auction.

The evening got off to a spectacular start with the girls of the Priddle Burstin Dance School
performing the can-can.

We were very pleased to welcome so many of the dedicated nursing team from the RCH.

Members of the CIKA committe were much in evidence. Faye and Michael Love (left) and
Ellen Webb and her family have been part of the team for many years.

Committee member, Pam Phillips, was presented with the award of CIKA CHAMPION in recognition of her tireless support over many years. Peter Mitchell and Ellen Webb made
the presentation (left) and CIKA president, Sandra Lehrer, was amongst the first to
congratulate her.

The second CIKA CHAMPION award for 2014 was made to Stuart and Robert Crowl of
Briamar Press for their generous support
for more than a decade.
Keith Waters, a former paediatric oncologist at the RCH was joined by CIKA vice president Ellen Webb and childhhod cancer survivor,
Dean Duyvestyn, to outline CIKA's role in the search for a cure.

A surprise for the guests was the auction of a 10 kg block of chocolate, donated by a
Methodist Ladies' College Family.

Patrons were treated to the music of Bob Valentine's band and the Grand Auction was conducted by Leor Samuel.
