CIKA is committed to providing funding for research into solid tumours

Macedon Ranges 2012 Luncheons - Cancer in Kids @ RCH - CIKA

April 3 2012

The Macedon Ranges Focus Group has been raising money for CIKA for many years. On 3rd April, CIKA was the beneficiary of a luncheon held at King's Kitchen in Crown Casino. Organized by the very energetic Lesley McKibbin, fifty eight CIKA supporters descended to the function room for a delicious lunch, many raffles and lots of catch-up talk between friends.

Lesley and her friend Ruth Edelsten are great movers and shakers and we really value all the work that went into this event which raised over $1200.00 for research.

Even before the last particpant was out the door, Lesley was in the planning stages for the next event. Watch this space!

Thank you and Well Done !

October 31 2012

Flushed with the success of their April event, the hardworking group members organised a reprise on 31 October.

The energy and enthusiasm of the Macedon Ranges Focus Group appears to have no bounds. On the 31st of October, and in the very capable and enthusiastic hands of Leslie Mc Kibbon, seventy eight CIKA supporters boarded trains, trams, cars and buses to descend upon Crown Casino to enjoy several hours of wining, dining and conversation.

This event was booked out early and it is a wonderful reflection on the kindness of so many that they travelled so far for this fundraiser. Sue Manson attended on behalf of the R.C.H., in her role as auxiliaries co-ordinator, and was impressed with the fellowship of this band of supporters.

$1335.00 was raised, and on behalf of all the CIKA team we would like to thank Lesley for her hard work and dedication in supporting our fundraising efforts.

Karen Challis was the lucky raffle winner.

As at the last event, guests enjoyed a delicious lunch
in great company.

December 14 2012

The annual Focus Group Christmas luncheon is the highlight of the CIKA year. It is a time when good friends reflect on the year past, celebrate Christmas and share with the CIKA team the results of the fund raising for the year. CIKA was well represented at the 2012 event, with ten members attending.

The Gisborne golf club was awash with donated goods for the monster raffle, and the beautifully decorated tables added to the festive spirit.

Guests were welcomed by President, Chris Rhodes, who spoke on behalf of all the Focus members whose commitment to CIKA simply goes from strength to strength. It has been a very hectic year for the Group, and the hard work and enthusiasm of its members enabled Chris to present CIKA with a cheque for $13,000, which included $4,000 raised by Lesley McKibbin and her team of cyclists.

Gwen and Andy Kakafikas, who have been supporting CIKA for many years, were again most generous with a $1,000 donation, presented at the luncheon.

CIKA president, Sandra Lehrer, was overwhelmed by the size of the donations but duly responded with the very grateful thanks of all the CIKA team.

We were also fortunate to have Andrew and Christine Duyvestyn in attendance. Andrew gave an overview of the fund-raising coach drive from Port Fairy to Melbourne that will be underway mid 2013.

All of the CIKA team value the support and commitment that the Focus members show for CIKA. Although the Group is primarily a social club, but they have taken the CIKA cause to heart with a real passion.
