Macedon Ranges 2015 Luncheons - Cancer in Kids @ RCH - CIKA

11 December 2015

The Macedon Ranges Focus Group are our longest standing supporters and they have to be one of the most active and happiest bunch of women on the planet. Age, aches and health challenges do not get in the way of this group fundraising for CIKA and at this year's the annual Christmas lunch we were presented with a cheque for $9000.00. We are very appreciative of all the events that they hold throughout the year and are overwhelmed by the ongoing support that they give to CIKA.

Once again we were presented with a very generous cheque from Andy and Gwen Kakafikas (TBS Australia ) at the Luncheon. Gwen said that she and Andy were glad to be able to support CIKA and we would like to thank them again for their generous donations over many years.

Third Bendigo Cup-day Lunch

The 2015 Bendigo Luncheon held on September 29th was a great success thanks to the untiring efforts of Sala Rubinstein, Ruth Edelsten and their many helpers. Here is a report on the event written by Sala.

What a fun day we had! After three years of having helped put this luncheon together, to see it grow to such a successful event with 165 guests attending was amazing. The chatter and laughter amongst everyone makes this event even more enjoyable. Many thanks to Ian Nichols from KLFM Bendigo Radio Station for being MC, his skills as a broadcaster came into action, especially in managing the very chatty guests!

Special thanks to the wonderful “Mary Mac ” who made a great presentation, updating everyone on the progress that CIKA is making in funding research and how far we have come in our thirty five years.

We had great support from Bendigo Bank: they booked a table and Aggie Poliafico presented to the guests the information on the R.C.H./Bendigo Bank relationship.

As always we had a large contingent from the Macedon Ranges Group and it speaks volumes that they hired a bus to attend the luncheon.
Thank you to Ellie, from “Merinda Boutique” and Narena from “The Hat Shop” for organizing the clothing and hats for the parade which was very successful. Our models who are everyday women, did a great job parading all the beautiful outfits.

A big thanks to “Friend of CIKA ” Ruth Edelsten for organizing this event, the raffles and many spot prizes. You are a gem and we are so lucky to have you on our team with your many family members and friends.

Over $4,700,00 was raised on the day, a fabulous result. Well done to all those who volunteered and supported this event.

20 May 2015

Lesley McKibbin, a stalwart member of the Macedon Ranges Focus Group, reports that the May luncheon was a great success. The thirty nine ladies present had a wonderful day at the Highlands Hotel in Craigieburn. Most started the day from Gisborne or Sunbury with a very enjoyable coach ride to the venue. On arrival they were greeted by the obliging staff with a lovely morning tea which was enjoyed by all. The raffle was conducted with lots of prizes and much laughter. Then came lunch. What a wonderful buffet!!!

A great day was had by all and the group raised $805. Leslie, on behalf of CIKA and the Focus Group, thanks everyone involved for their support.
